English to Darija Exercises

If talking about something: Maghanbedelhach/Maghanbedlouch, ana baghih/bghitou or baghaha/bghitha hakda.

If “i wont change my mind” is used for keeping a position/opinion, it can be translated by: Maghanbdelch hderti/klemti.

wowowowwww i just realised that i was high or something when i first read mimi’s english sentence… i understood it as “I changed my mind, i like this/that” :blink: :blink: :blink: mornings are baaaaad for me, wellahi billah

my apologies mimi and others that probably thought “what a dyslexic girl”
:oops:

Kato9e3 LA dont worry, shit happens…

it’s all good lalla, you’re not the only one :stuck_out_tongue:

ok, so i know that maghanbdelch hderti/klemti means i wont change my mind
but does maghanbdelch raai (sp?) mean that also? i’ve heard it somewhere before and i’m taking a guess :stuck_out_tongue:

phew, thanks for having my back guys :stuck_out_tongue:

no problem lalla :wink:

who’s giving the next sentence, i’m up for a challenge right about now !!

okkkkk missy here it goes:

There’s nothing you can do for me.

mkayn mtdiriliya

sm7ou liya, i hope its readable since my spelling’s outta wack!

so you’re saying makayn ma tdiri liya right? i assume your sentence is right, and here’s another way of saying it: ma3ndek matdir lia which is pretty much the same as yours :slight_smile:

good job!! :okay:

thats what i was saying, yet it was in a bunched up mess :stuck_out_tongue:
& yeah there are multiple ways to say it i just remember that one

i’ll give myself a pat on the back and provide our next sentence:
open the door and let some of the breeze in

uh oh that’s a hard one for me

ok this is all i can do:

fta7 lbab w …

i’ll let someone else do the rest, don’t wanna be greedy :smiley:

how thoughtful :slight_smile: lol

well so far so good, hopefully someone will take it away from there

yup when im stuck i become thoughtful all of a sudden :stuck_out_tongue:

bash idhkl ri7 - I’m pretty sure this isn’t right, but I wonder if it would be understood if it was said in context ?

bash = in order to
dkhl = enter
ri7 = wind

you got the “bach idkhl” right
but the word ri7 (how i read it) means more like perfume/aroma
there is a word for breeze/wind that is kinda sorta close to the word “ri7”

good try though lise :wink:

shall we continue?

well nobody has really gotten the answer so i’ll just say it
open the door and let some of the breeze in would be 7li lbab w khli chwiya mn lhawa/rwa7 idkhil
:stuck_out_tongue:

okk shall i give the new sentence then? or someone else can, since most of the time i don’t know the answer for my own questions :stuck_out_tongue:

try picking a sentence you would know the answer to lol
but i’ll give another if you want…or someone else, i really dont mind at all

Ok, an idiom:

He wants to have me for dinner, but i’ll have him for lunch.
