Another question, I’ve seen in wikipedia dialects in morocco are divided into three: “Western”, “Northern (Jebli, Tetouani)” and “Eastern (Oujda)”, which of these regions belong to which of the above three?

do these matter in learning darija, or what we are learning can be understood anyway?

(ps, i get depressed after watching the 1st 10 mins of casanegra!!!)

Oriental dialect speakers can more easily undestand other dialects. The oriental dialect is the most uncommon one, we rarely see TV shows, moroccan movies, or something where it’s represented (sad but true).

Do you mean oriental Moroccan dialects or oriental Arabic dialects?!!

In any case, i still don’t know is dialects in Morocco are divided into “Western”, “Northern (Jebli, Tetouani)” and “Eastern (Oujda)”? and if yeah which of the regions that ach and mad explained belong to which of these three divisions?

shika is talkin about the region number 10 ( oujda )
and i think we can easily understand the dialect spoken in oujda too … i have friends from oujda and s3idia … when they r talkin its like im watching linspecteur taher :^^:

Madridista is right, I was talking about Oujda’s region Gret.

In some cases, words can be completely different moving from a dialect to another:

Come is “Rwa7” for the Oriental, “Aji” for the Western region, and sometimes “T3ala” in the Central-West.

What is Wachta " " " , Achnou/chnou " " " ", and Chni/Chnni in the North of Morocco.

And so on…

yep true , and personally i dont mind using some words from other dialects if they sound good for me :stuck_out_tongue:
the diversity makes the darija stronger :smiley:
