Really, just wanna be a lurker over that thread…

Before I lurk, I was forgetting sth,

question for Ouazzani, hoping u’ll read this:
Are you, like deists, believe in Gos’s existance but dont belive in revelation and in prophets? cause I really can’t understand what’s being agnostic…

and if you really dont wanna discuss that anymore, it’s fine. I wont post here anymore too inchallah…
Thank u Ouazzani for reading (if u did)

[large]I did read your posts. I’m interested in this thread, and in your opinions. I will answer you, with pleasure.[/large][large][/large]

What I don’t want to do is to discuss about god’s existence or inexistence. Why? It’s easy (and I’m answering you):

It’s just out of the human being knowledgement. It would be long to explain in detail, and Kant did better before than I would never do. Then, there is my english, that limits my eloquence.

The discussion, I think, is what we can or can’t know.

The limits of our knowledgement is the experience. We only know the phenomenons (what’s given to the human being). We know them by the scientific knowledgement.

The most interesting things in the world, we will never know them: what’s behind the phenomenons.

God -in case that it exists- is not a phenomenon, it’s supposed to be behind, the cause of it. We can not know it by scientific knowledgement (we can not mesure it, experiment with it… because he is not object of our material perception). God is one of this interesting things that would be nice to know by the scientific method. But we can not.

At this point, what we did is to recognize that the human being is limited, and we have not a scietific acces to metaphysics.

But there is other ways to know things. The knowledgement is also furnished by artistic perception, by faith, and maybe other ways that I don’t remember now. The apropiate mode to have religious knowledgement is faith, no the scientific methode.

So, returning to my personal experience with religion:

  • I don’t belive that good exists (but I don’t really know if it do or not, and nobody can’t demostrate it by the scientifical methode).
    - I don’t believe in a afterlive (but I don’t know if there is or no, and nobody can demostrate it by scientifical methode)
  • I don’t believe in any trascendent intelligence or any kind of supranatural force that determines our fate, that made the universe with a program and a finality.

But I’m not atheist: I can not. Atheism is just a faith, and I don’t have faith. This is what’s to be agnostic.

I have a big respect towards people who have faith, because I understand that humans have a spiritual dimension. I just can not feel the same, I fullfill my spiritual dimension by other means.

Some says it makes me poor, but I feel myself strong because of this. It works for me.

And of course yes, I read the qur’an, the bible, the new testament (catholics), I know the judaism, buddism, and whatever…

yes if you read them, but my question was if you believe in them or not, I mean to believe that they are words of God that He sent to those prophets through revelation… & I think that when you said that u dont believe in “any kind of supranatural force” so you kinda answered me…

Anyway, thanks alot Ouaz for your answer

I edited the last one to make it clarer.

I don’t believe in God, so… No, I don’t believe in revelations.

Yeah I guessed so. Thank you

That’s another thing, and needs another method of proofs…

Yeah. Science can’t prove it . But also can’t prove it’s false.

Well I think science can’t prove many and lots of things. Still the power of science has its limits.
Remember that people used to believe only in what they saw, but after discovering gravity, atoms, and others they started to doubt this idea.

If you want us to try & prove you revelation, it’s ok…

:okay: i like this one … and this is what i feel with my religion ( i dont care if it is the right one or not) , i just feel good, happy , proud to be muslim
there r a lot of ppl who waist a lot of money on psychiatrists to reach the power ouazz was talkin about … we can reach without nothin  right ouazzani ?

Right. That’s the attitude!!!
