I think PB meant “some westerners” or those westerners who have a birds eye view of us/you guys.
Perhaps ! but i gotta admit that the moment i wrote that, i was generalizing at all the wetsrners. not because i wanna have a prejudice on them, but because in my understanding, a westerner is not someone who comes from the west anymore…
being a westerner is a way/style of thinking, some one could not have been a westerner despite living in the west. & vice versa…(that’s according to me of course, i know what a westerner means)
therefore when i say “westerner” i aint talkin about those who live in the west, i’m talking about “pride & prejudice”.
not sure if i made it clear, perhaps i messed it up more, but that’s my view to a westerner.
LOOOOOOOOL this is hillarious!
But she shouldn’t generalise like that Im sure not all Moroccan men r pervs (i hope) lol Anyways im sure she had some +ves in her experience that she doesn’t want to list
Me and my friends experienced some pervy men in Turkey but that didn’t distort our view of the country in anyway we simply LOVED it and will be on the next plane there when we get the chance inshallah :hap:
wut about when u go to algeria ??
see thats the thing i never experienced ANYTHING  Thank the lord! lol
seriously there were no pervs at the airport, no one offering us camel rides, at the market I didn’t experience any pervy men at all and when in restaurants the waiters hardly even looked at the women on the tables and were so respectful mashallah and when we were on the beach no one came to us or perved on us (but maybe thats coz we didn’t dress like westerners and coz we always had my dad with us then) but ill let u know how that stands when I go again this summer inshallah
yes let me know
thnx mini for sharin ur experience … i’ll never go to algeria then ( i dont wanna be the only perv there)
oh dude u need help
hahahhahaha dont worry about me im an elegant perv wuahahahha
hmm… really yes … I agree that in Morocco’s streets girl that has an european appearance can’t stay alone… especially if she wears european style.
Anyway almost everyone will look at and try to talk. And yes I noticed that people on the streets always look right on your eyes. And if your eyes are not brown … :^^: hehe…
But it never make me feel nervous…
And what about the police… ?? It always looks for a couples especially on the beaches…
Is it really prohibited for moroccans to talk with foreigners ? I know they can be fined for this…
And of course some of them try to offer themselves like a guides… for some money of course…
I just want to make things clear for myself…
haha in my book there’s no such thing lol
well touta … there r many tourists who had complained from ppl in the beach offering services and sometimes well i mean always they annoy foreigners … so now we have what we call ‘’ la police touristique ‘’ … as its name reveals it is made for tourists , and one of their job is keeping those moroccans away from foreigners .
miniiiiii u lucky bum!!
Maaan even when i was like 13 or 14 in turkey men would look/stare, so I taught myself to say aloud: NE BAKIYORSUN INEK GIBI? which means, why are you staring (at me) like a cow? and walla it works so well
Though in big cities it’s not as common because there are so many people, in smaller cities/towns generally people stare more. that was what i noticed anyway…
Seriously, if people know how to swallow the bad and enjoy the good, there will be no one ranting over their unfortunate experiences…
hmm… You know here, for example in my country and I think in many european ones, people don’t care at all…
I mean I can do everything in the street, I can wear like I want, I can shout, I can… I dont know what else… and noone even look at me… Everyone lives in his own small world including him and his family…
Of course when you move to another country like Morocco… haha… where people stare… It shocks!
And not everybody can accept this… Some people become to be nervous or angry, others find it’s funny…
I think so.
touta thats the thing about -in general- western countries, and i’m saying this because i live in one, people are in their own world, they don’t care about others and generally if something happened to someone in the street, hardly any people would have the guts to help that person… i’m speaking from experience, i saw an old man being beaten up on the train by young guys and NOT EVEN ONE MAN got up to help the old guy, his head was bleeding… but i can tell you for sure that in countries like Morocco, or even Turkey, where people stare and are interested in other people’s lives, someone would DEFINITELY get up and help a person in the street… that we can’t deny. so, no matter how annoying some of the norms can be, i prefer living in an “eastern” or “non-western” country so that i can enjoy an interesting and caring culture… :hap: ouff sorry about the essay
LallaAïcha, you are absolutely completely right
I tried to say the same.
Even if here someone ll see a man laying down on the road he or she ll go away being sure that man is drunken or smth…
stupid thing…
maybe he is dying, maybe he is suffering…
But people don’t care :neu:
And in Morocco for example you can always rely on people whom you even don’t know. Anyway you ll get help
It’s one from alot of reasons that I like eastern countries…
For people here it’s hard to say even Hi to each other sometimes.
glad you agree
yes, you’re right… in turkey, i had people who i didn’t even know, calling me to their home for dinner/breakfast or just coffee… this is what i call etiquette and hospitality, but here people shut their doors even to their family :hm: when you offer them something or do something for them its such a BIG thing, but for us, its so normal
im glad for hearin this from u both
so today after the class , i was talkin with my teacher about a work i must do … then he asked me : r u from morocco ? i said yes … he said awe i really wanted to visit this beautiful country , but last month my son was there with his best friend ( a moroccan guy) and they were arrested by cops like 18 times just from tanger to marrakech … and im so scared now so im not visiting it at all … :s
ofcourse i explained to him everythin and he asked me if i can go with him to morocco
anyway , my question now is : did u find any problem with police when u were driving in morocco ?
18 times ? ohoho…
I don’t know abt situation on the roads there… Because I always move by train and just sometimes by bus or by car… I mean when I go from one city to another.
But I had a situation where was a police also…
One guy attaked us on the street… at night…
But he run away so when police came there… there were nothing to do really…
oups did someone get hurt ? and im so sorry … morocco can be dangerous sometimes
its not nice to be poor :s
