I love listening to Chaabi, Rai etc. and although I can sing along to many of them (sort of :unsure:) , I have listened to them so often but I rarely understand the lyrics and as you can imagine I would love to be able to know what the songs are about. I won’t send you full lyrics of the songs (dont panic lol) , just to know the titles would be great for now. So here are a few…

Choukran bzeff, that’s very interesting. Im glad now that I have some kind of idea of what they are singing about. Yes, I often visit moroccan mp3 websites and download different songs - mainly because the songs usually make me feel happy :^^: and remind me of my visits to Morocco. I think learning a language by listening to songs is one of the best ways. I like different singers, Cheb Wahid, Said Rami, Senhaji and many more as well as groups like Fnaire, Bnat Charq etc. Of course the Algerian singers like Cheb Khalid, Cheb Hasni, Faudel, Bilal etc. are great too. I have loads of songs to listen to, but Im not sure that I would be able to type out the full lyrics for songs but there is no harm in trying a short verse at a time. I will choose a good song and I will try to eventually send in what I think is being said and hope that someone can translate it ench’allah.
You don’t have to post full lyrics ;), consider this as a non-compulsory assignment :). I am sure someone around will want to go on with the exercise and translate the lyrics, or I’ll do it myself.
I hope that people are still reading this thread and that someone will reply…I didn’t want to open a new thread, as I thought it would make sense to continue from where I left off. :blink:

I am not quite sure about the “lewino” word. I once heard someone call a dark skinned person “llwiyyn”, a diminutive of lôn, meaning color. Now I am not sure how offending that would be.

Yewta 7al – I am not sure. I should listen to the song. It sounds like “Things get down”, but I can’t confirm.

In Morocco, mostly when one is in trouble or hight sorrow, they call out for their mothers… literally, but not calling them really to come. That’s like “Oh God”… I mean, it’s the same use…

Deiri hamza ou hamza 3eliek - Not sure what the sentence means. Hamza means deal. "Make a deal, and a deal on you"? No, it doesn’t make sense.
