What textbook?
Uh, I am tired. I am just keeping myself awake until it’s “normal” time to go to sleep.

The one from Richard S. Harrell “A basic Course in Moroccan in Moroccan Arabic”

Oh, was it a busy day?

Yeah, especially when you carry your laptop around like a nerd… :^^:
I really should get a look at that Harrell’s book everyone’s talking about! I should!

By the way, where do you live in Germany?

Oh yes. Since I’ve Internet at home I don’t have to take my computer to University to get Internet in the library.

Or since there are computers in the library, you don’t have to take your computer with you to use Internet at University. Ha!
I just looked up Bochum in the map. Sounds like a typical German word.
Are you planning to visit Morocco any time soon?

But you can’t use the computers from the library just to surf the Internet. There are just not enough you have to wait long, can’t execess to everything…

No, there is nothing planed maybe next summer. I’ve been this year for nearly 5 weeks in Morocco and I want to go to Egypt in April.

How is your German?

Let me know how it goes for Egypt. One of my dreams is to go there as well. I love the people :D. They have a unique sense of humor!
Mein Deutsch? Mein Deutsch ist sehr schlecht I can’t even dare make sentence.

Oh I’m dreaming to go to Egypt for 13 years now.

But that sentence above is correct. How long have you been learning German now?

Is it just me or is the time on the forum not correct?

How old are you when you started dreaming about Egypt? [Smart question, ha?]

Oh well, I had German classes for 2 years… But wait, it was no extensive grammar, just 2 hours a week learning vocabulary and some conversational skills. As management graduates, we were more meant to acquire some basics of the language to be able to have very limited conversations… I stopped for a while, forgot mostly everything. Now I am brushing up on my German and getting rid of all the dust. German is a bit hard, but I am a bit stubborn. We fit each other so well :D.

What time does it show for you?

It’s shows that your post is from 20:28, but it’s 21:49 that is not only the wrong hour. I already changed the time of the Forum to CET.

Hihi. It’s started with a birthday party in a museum for social anthropology and I was still a kid :^^:

Yes, German isn’t easy. 2 years 2 hours per week isn’t much. I had 2 years Spanish class 4 hours per week (but the 2nd year I only mad it to go there 2 hours per week was the same time as my MSA class) came to Spain and I didn’t understand a word they were talking about…

So you know what I am talking about for German.

Let me see what’s with the time.

It’s technical bug. Although the time is set correctly, there still is a 15 minutes lag in the forum. I hope that we’ll get rid of that soon.

Ok, than I’m doing nothing wrong.

Oh yes I know a lot of learning foreign languages, I’m learning a lot of them but can’t speak a lot o them. Ok two of them are already dead…

So you’re studying linguistics?
Do you want to teach languages in the future? Be a translator or interpreter?

No, I’m studying Oriental Studies (Orientalistik). So I “just” had to learn Arabic, Turkish, Farsi (dropped that one after a semester and a half), some Arabic Dialect and Hebrew ( the old one from the Bible not like they talk now in Israel, with that I didn’t had to learn Latin). But because it’s free to take language course at the University I just keep adding languages. I’m not a good teacher and I’m not good in translating. So what I’m going to do after I graduated is a big question…

You sure need to figure out :).
What will you do with the Old Hebrew mathalan? Do you like learning languages even without any particular interest in using them in some given context? (Visiting a country where the language is spoken, moving to a new country, etc.)

The mean reason for Old Hebrew was that I had to pass a test (Hebraicum) that I needed for my studies, but I want to learn at some point in the future Ivrit (the Hebrew spoken in Israel) I think that might be useful (Middle East). Oh there is always a reason why I pick a language to learn. The ones above it was my studies. English and French I had to learn in school. Spanish and Portuguese are spoken in so many different countries. And there are books for my studies written in Spanish and Italian. I love Turkish so I had to learn the Old Turkish (Othmanian (??) Turkish) too. Just my excuse for Swedish is a bit hard…

And why are you learning German?

At school, I had to choose between German and another language, so I wanted to try German since it always sounded interesting to me. It looks interesting as well, with all those endless words :D. Not sure how far I’ll get with it, understanding some texts and the news would be more than enough for me.
And oh well, I might come to Germany some day as well, who knows!

If you like long words you should take a look at Turkish.

Can you figure out what “Donaudampschifffahrtskapitänsmützenknopf” means  ? It doesn’t makes much sense it just a funny word because it’s so long…

All I see in the word is a damp captain :mdr:, the rest is mystery!
