Game 1 - Word Game
Nour. I don’t know what it means in Darija though, as I am under the impression some other word is used for “light”…:huh:

Next would be R.
Nour could be just a first name (besides meaning light in MSA). Light in darija is ddo.
Thanx for explaining -nuwwara :slight_smile:

Rajel - Husband

L ==>
Rajel is husband… or “any” man.

Actually in darija saying rajeli (my husband) means literally: my man.

… as LA explained later…
seniya
next is ya
My turn…

Ya… ya… yabani? Japanese, although we’d say jappouni… can’t think of any ya word!

L7rf jjay (next letter): Let it be the N (i is tricky).

namusiya (bed)

L7rf jjay (next letter): ya’

yak --> kind of emphatic interrogative particle ( Harrell’s dictionary) equivalent to English ‘question tags’, i.e.
…, isn’t it ? …, did you ? …,hasn’t he ? etc.

yak qoltha-lek? = I told you, didn’t I ?

l7rf jjay (next letter) : k

kteb (to write, he wrote)

l7rf jjay (next letter) : b

bou9ala - bump on the head

l7raf jjay (next letter): S

simsar - a kind of real estate agent

l7ref jjay (next letter) : r

roubini - sink

l7ref jjay (next letter): I
roubini - sink

l7ref jjay (next letter): C
Shouldn’t the next lettre be an “i”???

oh yeah, i forgot…i’ll change it!
Mzyan. I’ll take it with “dar”, so my word is

             ros = rice.
The biggest problem I’ve noticed with Native English speakers or even French or any other western language which doesn’t have the rough 7, 9, 3, sounds is pronounciation.
Sometimes a friend of mine says something in Darija and I can’t really understand what he’s implying but when I read it I understand how he pronounced it wrongly.
What I’m actually asking myself is if it shouldn’t be better if there was an audio option to listen to some words.
This comment was triggered by daarijalearner who asks as shown above “ros=rice” while the correct pronounciation would be rowz and the R in the beginning of the word should make a rolling sound rrrowz.
With all due respect I’m learning German and I know how difficult it is to take on the task of acquiring a new language.

??? =rice

zar / ??? = to visit

next letter : r

You’re right, La3robi, pronunciation is a big problem for us darija learners. It would be great if we could have more audio here. :wink:

ramla = sand

wanted to do r9i9 = skinny but because of the number I couldnt :confused:

next letter: a

gunnerlad, you’re allowed to have numbers, there are words that begin with 9 and 7 and 2 etc.

next letter: a

a7lam dreams

next letter m

Masmouma = mean (fem.)

next letter—> a

starting again…with the letter A …

Alif

:slight_smile:

f -> flus / ??? = money

next letter ( l7rf jjay / ??? ??? ) : s

Safr -to travel

R
