Here’s another story from the book “Humor and Moroccan Culture” by Matthew Helmke. Have a go at translating it. (I hope I haven’t made too many mistakes!)

  • haj - term of respect referring to someone who has performed the
    haj / pilgrimage.

The “qt” is missing from the first sentence; I completely missed the cat going on the haj

Ah, no, the ‘cat’ isn’t missing from the first sentences, it’s just that it’s called a ‘msh’ rather than a ‘qT’ in the first sentence! Darija is so tricky!!

So does the city name “Temarra” mean something?
If I ever write something about Morocco, there will
be a “Road to Temarra” thrown in somewhere. Real funny
in English

I like this exercise from PCM, i’m going to have to study it though, because im not sure why they use so many diff versions of ghadi. Shukran :slight_smile:
