Gigi, if you don’t understand everything Madi says in Darija, you’re not the only one.

Chofti ya gigi? Anfa3 ab2a katiba wyekoun 3andi keda kaza rewaya w kaza film, wala naguib ma7fouz  wakteb kedah fel ehda2: Ila Gigi wa Madi

lol @ metnafsena. You need not to explain it, mana bfahamha w hia tayra. It’s the same structure as the Darija word: mramden. We say that for people who get all angry and on their nerves in Ramadan, mostly because they are not getting their daily dose of caffeine or nikoutiiiin.
Ma teb2eech tetnafesni ba2a.

Actually, not only Egyptians say belzaf, many non Moroccans do. Bass 7aga ma3roufa awi 3an elmasriyin ennoko you don’t make the difference between sun and moon letters. Ftla2ikou bet2oulou: el-shams w el-shagara, kollo “el” 3andko, which is not the case for us. We are too zealous that we even turned j to be a sun letter in Darija lolllll

Also, and I hope this is not offending, we - or at least me - have the impression that Egyptians make a lot of grammar mistakes in fos7a.
You made one in another thread  you said 3ala nafoha ganat baraqesh.

I am sure many people find your questions interesting and are glad you spared them the “trouble” of typing it all.

Just stopping by to say salam.

yeah, u, urself, usually say that u dont understand each other…

I didnt know that, but I noticed when I reached that lesson in that site that I really don’t know which letters are the sun letters and which are the moon ones…I thought it was only me.

You have that impression about us? Well actually I’m not sure, I mean stimes we are aware of our faults (thou not change it) but this one I’ve never heard of b4 walahi
Bardo fe 7aga, I, gigi, is so bad at fus7a, w7a2olek leeh, first of all because I went to school where most subjects were taught in english, like maths and science, and this is not common in egypt. Not sure in Morocco, we’ve that idea that you study such subjects in french all over morocco. Such schools focus on bringing up us to be good more in english. Then, I studied english lit, & during the summer of each year I was involved with english ppl (non arabs, w bel2amara most of them were pakistanis). Plus, in my faculty, we studied just one arabic subject, not grammar but literature too, for three years, and on the fourth that subject was substituted by the Am lit. Also, when I look for any info, i look it up in english (any info tokhtor 3la balek) I’ve never read any arabic novel except only 3maret ya3qobian, and tried to read resalet elghofran but couldnt understand it. U’r gonna laugh when u know that I used to teach and for specific student I wrote the meaning of new words I gave to my students (4 their parents) anyway, I didnt know what was the meaning of “table” cause I know its “tarabeza” but I cant write that
Not sure if all egyptians are like that, but i feel that I’m a special case, like few others too fel mawdo3 dah blta7deed. And i’m not offended, ana 3rfa en kol dawla 3rabeya shayla mnena fe 7aga  lol
