lalla fatima

Goedemiddag!

I came across a song which is called “lalla Fatima”. The artist is Houssaine Kili and the song is released on the cd “Mountain to Mohammed”.
I believe there is a popular sitcom on the national Maroccan channel 2M which uses the song as its opening tune as well.

My question: would it be possible to post the lyrics of the song here? I’m curious to learn what’s being told to miss Fatima in this short song.
Thanks in advance.

Maarten

You’re right, it’s used for the sitcom as well. Here it is, for those who don’t know it. Only the first part is from the original song, the rest about the Benzizi family from the sitcom.

So here is the refrain of the song, and I honestly am not pretty sure if it’s the exact same lyrics of the original song.

Lalla Fatima, lghzala Fatima
Lady Fatima, the beautiful Fatima
A Lalla Fatima, katzôrnâ bttbsîmâ
Lady Fatima is visiting us with a smile
Lalla Fatima… Lalla!
Lady Fatima… Lady!
Lghzala Fatima… Fatima
Beautiful Fatima… Fatima
Lalla Fatima, m3ana lyôm kîfmâ dîmâ
Lady Fatima is with us today like usual

I hope this answers your question. If you have a link to the original song, please share it with us. We can write the lyrics together.

Thanks for your effort. Much appreciated.

It seems Houssaine Kili is singing about another Lalla Fatima in his song.
The song can be downloaded here.

I’m looking forward to write down the lyrics together.
If you could help out with the darija part, than I’ll try a translation to english.

mp

If you want also to try writing down what you hear, I think it’ll be a good exercise. I’ll correct it for you.

a fatima a fatima
a fatima a fatima
a fatima a fatima
lalla fatima lalla fatima
(so far so good)

(now it becomes quite obvious I’m not a native Moroccan)

lalla fatima u 3arabi rir iklima
lalla fatima lalla fatima
lalla fatima u 3arabi rir iklima
ttliq sba’ l-ghir ma dditish hiya

Wow, nice version of the song! You realize that it’s not the original one, right?
I LOVE ddqqa lmrrakshiyya at the beginning. Typical!

Good job Maarten and Sarah. Here I come :).

A Fatima, a Fatima
A Fatima, a Fatima

Lalla Fatima, lalla Fatima
Lalla Fatima, w 3âr rabbi ghir klima
Mrs Fatima, for God’s sake, (address to me) just a (little) word!
(X2)

Glt lîk sbâ7 lkhîr mâ rddîtîsh 3liyyâ (X2)
I told you “good morning”, and you didn’t answer me
Yâk mâ mshghôla blghîr, mâ khmmemtîshî fiyyâ (X2)
I hope that your mind is not busy with someone else, and you didn’t have a thought for me

A Fatima a Fatima
A Fatima a Fatima
Ya Fatima
A Fatima a Fatima

Thanks for sharing the audio, Maarten. I absolutely love it. Do you have the full song?

choukran lalla SimplyMoroccan!

I’m afraid I haven’t got the full song yet. It seems Houssaine Kili has published all of his songs but one; lalla Fatima is missing! I’ll let you know when it’s available at deezer. mp

As your version is not the original song, I don’t think Kili is the original singer.
I think that it’s Hamid Zahir’s song.

Yep, it’s Hamid Zahir.

Here is the original classic song.

Thank you. The full version of Kili’s interpretation can be downloaded here.

Hallo Maarten.

Here is a video of the full lyrics of the original song Lalla Fatima by Hamid Zahir, along with their translation in English.
