King receives official delegation of Moroccan pilgrims

Agadir, 14 Nov. 2008 (MAP)- King Mohammed VI received, Friday at the Royal Palace of Agadir, the members of the official delegation of Moroccan pilgrims heading for Saudi Arabia to perform the rituals of the Moslem pilgrimage (Haj) this year.

The Hajj is the largest annual pilgrimage in the world. It is the fifth pillar of Islam, an obligation that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by every able-bodied Moslem who can afford to do so.

The delegation, headed by Ahmed Toufiq Héjira, Housing minister, includes Ambassador Mustapha  Salaheddine from the Foreign Ministry, Governor of the province of  Azilal, Mohamed Alaoui Rachidi, Noureddine El Jamal from the Supreme Court, and Omar Lahnout, officer at the Royal Armed Forces.
