I love Turkish classical music, folk music and Arabesk.
I love Persian classical music, folk music and popular music; called “Kooche Bazari”.
I love Kurdish classical music and folk music, especially from Iraq and Iran.
And of coarse Arabic classical, folk and popular music.
But when I hear the influence of western melodies, rhythm or instruments, I get sick and need to puke.
You could say I am quite a PURIST in that regard. I HATE this so called mixing of Middle Eastern and western music. Makes me think about Albert Hourani’s work called Cultural Imperialism.

i like ur style. intolerance and puking. we are going to get along.
question: do you ever have trouble picking out the mixing and then you’re not sure if you like the music or you are going to puke, u get sort of stuck btw a smile and a puke
ahh then another question: do you have a certain date before which the mixing is palatable or is this a puking aversion to mixing for ALL TIME AND HISTORY???
“Mehmouma” by Nass El Ghiwane is currently my new favourite song.
I don’t know what it means yet, but I can pick up some of the words.
Currently in LOVE with gnawa songs!
it’s a fun way to learn the meaning of the song, i have done it here before and some people were really helpful even though sometimes it’s hard to translate the poetry of ghiwane
